Robert Louis Stevenson's Cave:
Robert Louis Stevenson famous for writing Treasure Island, Kidnapped and Dr Jeckyll and Mr Hyde spent many summers in Bridge of Allan. He liked to walk along what's now known as The darn Walk, a path following the allan water to Dunblane. Along route is Stevenson's cave. This cave is said to be the inspiration for Treasure Island.

" I went for my favourite walk by the riverside among the pines and ash trees. There is a little cavern here,….which has been a part of me anytime these last 12 years or more." It is probably this cave that he transformed in Treasure Island to become Ben Gunn's cave.

The cave is actually an old audit for the copper mine.

To walk along the darn walk you need to walk towards the bridge and then up Blairforkie Drive until you get to a sign on the left signed 'Allan Walk' - follow this route. The path emerges beside the Dunblane Golf Course - you can walk across the road and into dunblane to catch a train back to Bridge of Allan for a round trip. Outdoor footwear is recommended particularly if it has been wet as it can get muddy; allow 60 to 120 minutes.
